A Tribute to my Mentor.
Dr. Emmanuel Umoh, a brother, friend, mentor and former National President AKISAN, was someone I had a lot of respect for.
I came to know him of his commitment to serve humanity. He was very active, astute and ever willing to serve and promote growth both within his community in the Diaspora and his home land Nigeria.
He was very energetic and engaging. Contributing his ideas in different Diaspora forums. Even when he got sick with his ailing condition; one can’t tell the difference because he was still playing an active role, contributing his ideas as usual.
I can recall vividly his phone conversation to me, August 2023 to inform me of his condition. I was silent for a while due to shock and disbelief. Then, I summed up courage to continue the conversation. I told him, God has the final say and we commit your healing into his hands.
In October of 2023, he called and talked about a man from Lakewood Church who gave testimony that he got healed of his same condition.
From my Facebook page, Dr. Emmanuel Umoh knew that I’m a member of Lakewood Church. He wanted to be connected to the man. I got the date of that service, pulled it and watched it throughout. I forwarded the video to Dr. Umoh who confirmed that was the testimony. I then contacted the Choir Director’s wife to link Dr. Umoh with the Church member who gave the testimony.
Dr. Umoh had faith in God and believed for his own healing.
But God makes it clear in Isaiah 58: 8-9. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways.
When God saw that the hill was too difficult for Dr. Umoh to climb, he reached out and whispered to him, “Son enter into my rest”
Dr. Umoh fought a good fight, finished the race and kept his faith.
Rest in peace, Dr. Umoh.
It is well with your soul and it is well with your family.
Adieu my friend!
